Hi All,

Do you know I had three days this week whereby I felt normal again, hardly any pain or aching and I began to think I'm cured I don't really have it. Today I'm suffering in the right hip never had it here before. So I take it when you have good days don't overdo it. Trouble is I feel so lazy if I sit around when things need to be done, and I hate seeing the ironing or clearning building up, husband is great really great and has always done his fair share. Is this what life is going to be like even when the MTX has kicked in, do you have to pace yourself for the rest of your life ? Anne x

Anne - you've got it spot on - pace yourself!! I do admit, however, to never having got used to this and tend to still go at things like a bull in a china shop when I am well and then spend a few days in bed recovering! Fatigue is, sadly, one of the things meds don't seem to completely cure, but I know that pacing does work wonders - why don't I do it, I wonder?!RollEyes

Yes, it's all about pacing about yourself and planning ahead to minimise the pain and tiredness.I am coming to realise this recently as my symptoms are much worse in recent months despite being diagnosed 10 years ago. Didn't realise how lucky I had been! It is so hard not to get on and do. My husband always says I need to be patient and wait for him to be able to be help but I find that really difficult! I suppose we must learn our limits and do what we can when we can. Hopefully the MTX will make us both feel much better soon - thats my big hope. Take care. x

Hi Annie, I know just where you are coming from! I think apart from the tiredness, pain etc etc that we get with this horrible disease, packing yourself is the hardest thing to conquer!! Like yourself, I have had days when I feel good (following a steroid infusion) and think Im cured and they've got it wrong!! It comes back and bites you in the bum though soon enough!!!

My rhuemmy although ok sort of gave me the impression that once the tablets ie mx. hydroxy etc kick in then everything will be hunky dory. My rhummy nurse advised me that I will still have to take painkillers regularly and to keep up with them regularly as its too late when the pain gets unbearable!!

Its all very confusing and alien I think, to go from being able to be on the go all day to having to pace and feel lazy when things around you need doing or having to ask for help. My husband Kev says Im too much of a control freak (in a nice way he says!) when it comes to the housework etc!!

Anyway, hope all goes well! Sit down and have a good rest!!

Hi Annie

Yes it takes a bit of getting used to - I have been diagnosed just over a year ago and am taking MTX. I take it on a Friday night and Saturday I could sleep for Britain, it's effort to do anything at all. It has taken some time for me to realise that I can't do everything in one go and yes the ironing piles up and you have to learn to housework in stages but you get to know it does help to take your time and don't worry about leaving things - believe me that is something coming from someone who never sat still for more than five minutes at a time.

Learn to take your time - it makes life easier - take care
